The all-Korean gold medal match was the first of its kind in 20 years, showcasing the dominance of South Korea in the sport. Lim, who previously clinched gold in the women’s team and mixed team events, joined an elite group of three athletes with multiple gold medals at these Games.

With Lim’s victory, South Korea increased its gold medal tally at the Paris Olympics to nine.

The Asian powerhouse has now won all four archery gold medals awarded in Paris, with the men’s individual competition set for Sunday.

The addition of the mixed team event to the Olympic archery program in 2021 created an opportunity for archers to win three gold medals in a single Games. Lim joined South Korea’s An San, who achieved this feat in Tokyo, as the only archers to win the women’s individual, women’s team, and mixed team titles. Kim Woo-jin, another South Korean archer, will aim to join the exclusive club when he competes in the men’s individual final on Sunday.
