SEOUL, July 30 (AJU PRESS) - Korea's Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced Tuesday HD Hyundai Oilbank has been selected to develop a clean energy complex at Daesan Port on the western coast.

The project, part of Korea's national carbon neutrality policy, aims to establish production, storage and distribution facilities for eco-friendly energy sources such as green hydrogen and ammonia. Construction is slated to begin in the first half of 2025, with completion expected by 2031. It will mark the country's first such facility in a port area.

The development will be carried out in phases on a 159,108 square-meter reclaimed land area. Facilities for biofuel, refined oil from discarded plastic, and hydrogen production using clean ammonia will be constructed sequentially.

"Starting with the Daesan Port clean energy cluster, we will actively attract private capital to expand eco-friendly energy and green hydrogen production in ports nationwide," said Minister of Oceans and Fisheries Kang Do-hyung said.
