The percentage of this age group has increased from 11.79 percent in 2013 to 13.6 percent in 2017, 15.48 percent in 2019, and 17.45 percent in 2022.
This means the nation is close to becoming a "super-aged" society. The United Nations classifies societies with more than 7 percent of people aged 65 or older as aging societies, 14 percent or more as aged societies, and 20 percent or more as super-aged societies.
