Kim, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, will compete against chefs from seven other countries in Manila on Oct. 25, the company said Sunday.
Before the finals, national competitions were held in eight Asia-Pacific countries, including Korea, Singapore, the Philippines and Japan.
The Korean contest was organized by Pulmuone with Barilla APAC Executive Chef Andrea Tranchero, Yoon Myoung-rang, head of the marketing division at Pulmuone Foods, and food columnist Kwon Eun-jung as judges.
Chef Kim used tomatoes and eggplant for his dish and was praised for its harmonious composition and the way it highlighted the natural flavors of each ingredient, according to Pulmuone.
