SEOUL, July 15 (AJU PRESS) - Korea saw an unprecedented number of Donghang Lottery jackpots on Saturday, with 63 winners sharing the top prize.
According to the Korean Lottery Commission, operated by the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, the record-breaking 63 winners surpassed the previous record of 50 winners set in June 2022.
Each winner from Saturday's draw received approximately 419 million won ($303,074), which is about a quarter of the average Korean Lotto first-place prize of two billion won. Despite this, it was not the lowest prize amount; in May 2013, 30 winners shared 409.5 million won each.
Data from Donghang Lottery, the operator of the weekly event, revealed that 11 winners used the auto-pick feature to select the winning numbers -- "1," "5," "8," "16," "28," and "33"-- while 52 winners chose their numbers manually.
Interestingly, five Lotto stores had two manual wins each, suggesting that in these cases, the same individual may have purchased two tickets with identical numbers. Additionally, there were 77 second-place winners who received 57.26 million won each and 2,987 third-place winners who won 1.48 million won each.
