SEOUL, July 11 (AJU PRESS) - About 30 must-try local dishes and specialties were selected to promote the flavor and health benefits of Korean cuisine, the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism said Thursday.

As part of its efforts to attract more tourists in collaboration with the Korea Tourism Organization, the ministry deliberatively chose local staples and seasonal specialties, each with its own origins and related stories.

"By introducing diverse culinary options served in local eateries, we aim to attract more tourists across the country," the ministry said.

One of the offerings includes Dwaeji Gukbap, a pork soup, which is one of the most popular dishes in the southern port city of Busan. The dish is said to have provided solace to refugees during the Korean War.

"We expect travelers or gourmets will be drawn to explore different parts of Korea, experiencing the rich culinary traditions and boosting local economies," the ministry explained. "We will continue to discover more local dishes and promote them," it added.
