The India-ROK (Republic of Korea) Defense Industry Cooperation Seminar took place in Seoul on Thursday, in collaboration with the Korea Defense Industry Association (KDIA), the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), and the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) from Korea, alongside the Department of Defence Production (DDP), the Ministry of Defence, and the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHD CCI) from India.
The seminar was attended by around 50 Korean defense firms and a dozen Indian defense companies, according to the embassy.
During the event, Indian Ambassador Amit Kumar delivered a keynote speech emphasizing the deepening "special strategic partnership" between the two countries.
He highlighted the growing significance of bilateral defense cooperation and exchanges in the defense industry. Kumar also provided insights into the Indian defense landscape, including initiatives aimed at increasing private sector involvement and attracting foreign investment.
Defense Attaché Colonel Ashish Gairola outlined recent advancements in the Indian defense industry, encouraging Korean firms to explore investment opportunities in India’s expanding defense market. which is projected to grow from $17 billion to $25 billion over the next five years.
KDIA Vice President Choi Byung-ro underscored the substantial potential for bilateral defense production cooperation. He shared insights into Korea’s defense industry capabilities and its success in global export markets. KDIA aims to host a similar seminar in India later this year.
