SEOUL, June 20 (AJU PRESS) - Samsung Electronics is upgrading its Tizen operating system with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to expand its application across a wide range of devices.

As of late last year, Tizen was installed on around 270 million Samsung smart TVs. The open-source platform, launched in 2015, replaced Samsung's previous closed Orsay TV OS, allowing for greater openness and the ability to simultaneously handle multiple processes.

Leveraging Tizen's multi-device capabilities, Samsung plans to maximize user experiences by enhancing AI functions.

"Samsung Tizen is evolving into an on-device platform to deliver exceptional user experiences through another leap forward," said a Samsung official.

Tizen powers not just smart TVs and monitors, but also projectors, B2B signage products, and even the AI companion robot "Bally" unveiled at CES 2024. On-device AI utilizes the high computing resources within Bally to enable seamless interconnected experiences.

By strengthening edge AI technology integrated with Tizen's scalable computing power across diverse Samsung products, the company aims to solidify its position in the flourishing AI ecosystem, it said.
