SEOUL, June 5 (AJU PRESS) - LG Energy Solution and Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the development of advanced battery cell internal temperature measurement technology for electric vehicles. The signing ceremony took place at ADI's headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts, on Wednesday (local time).

Under the two-year agreement, the companies will work together to supply high-performance battery management integrated circuits (BMIC) and develop enhanced fast charging technology through the establishment of precise battery temperature measurement algorithms. ADI, known for its focus on sustainable energy solutions, boasts an extensive BMIC portfolio.

The collaboration aims to utilize impedance measurement technology, which accurately measures the resistance to current and voltage flow within battery cells. By measuring the varying impedance based on battery conditions, detailed analysis and diagnosis of the internal battery state become possible. This technology is expected to enable more efficient temperature management, improve fast charging safety, and contribute to enhancing battery performance and lifespan.

LG Energy Solution plans to combine its accumulated battery manufacturing and battery management system (BMS) capabilities with ADI's advanced impedance measurement technology to build a more sophisticated battery management total solution (BMTS) and provide differentiated customer value.

Lee Dal-hoon, head of the BMS Development Center at LG Energy Solution, said, "Through this collaboration with ADI, which possesses an innovative BMIC portfolio, we will further enhance our BMTS capabilities, strengthening LG Energy Solution's unrivaled technological prowess and differentiated customer value."

Roger Keen, general manager of ADI's BMS business unit, said, "Collaborating with LG Energy Solution will expand ADI's contributions to the energy transition. We are committed to working with LG Energy Solution to bring state-of-the-art, efficient batteries to market and further advance the clean energy ecosystem."

LG Energy Solution continues its efforts to strengthen BMTS capabilities, including a recent collaboration with Qualcomm in March to develop advanced BMS diagnostic solutions based on system-on-chip technology.
