SEOUL, April 12 (AJU PRESS) - "DAVE THE DIVER," a casual, single-player adventure role-playing game developed by South Korea's MINTROCKET, has grabbed the "Game Design" award, presented by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

Nexon said that DAVE THE DIVER won the Game Design award at this year's "Game Awards 2024," hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) on Friday.

"Last year was one of the biggest years in gaming history. So I was just happy to stand next to these incredible games. We trusted in the concept. We trusted in ourselves. So, we finally made it to BAFTA," DAVE THE DIVER's director Hwang Jae-ho said during his acceptance speech at the awards event.

The adventure game, released in October 2022, depicts a story about Dave, a hard-working diver. Players can control Dave to catch fish, manage a restaurant, and farm vegetables and aquatic organisms gathered throughout the gameplay. MINTROCKET achieved the milestone of becoming the first South Korean game developer to sell more than three million copies in January 2024.

MINTROCKET is a subsidiary of Nexon, a major South Korean game publisher. South Korean game developers mainly focus on creating massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) which involve many players who cooperate to complete quests and collect items.
