SEOUL, April 02 (AJU PRESS) - Girl band NewJeans received an award from a U.S. radio streaming network on Monday for their recognition in the U.S. The awards event, run by New York-based radio streaming platform "iHeartRadio," is designed to celebrate artists and songs that dominate its airwaves and apps each year.
According to the group's agency, NewJeans received the "Best New Artist (K-Pop)" award at the iHeartRadio Music Awards held in Los Angeles. "Thanks to the support of our fans 'Bunnies,' we find the inspiration to work tirelessly each day," NewJeans said through a video message. "We extend heartfelt appreciation to everyone who supported us."
NewJeans is the sister band of BTS. After its debut in July 2022, the band released global hit songs such as Attention, Hype Boy, Super Shy, ETA, and Ditto. In November 2023, NewJeans clinched the "Top Global K-pop Artist" award at the Billboard Music Awards.
The group was formed under the command of Min Hee-jin, a genius idol incubator who planned concepts for SM Entertainment bands such as Girls' Generation, SHINee, and Red Velvet. Min is currently the head of ADOR, a subsidiary label of the agency of BTS.
