SEOUL -- South Korean tech giant LG Electronics has commercialized its smart factory technologies and solutions for enterprises by setting up a new dedicated business team in the company's production technology institute reflecting LG's big plan to beef up smart farm business capabilities.
LG said on March 10 that the company opened the new smart factory business operations team in its manufacturing technology institute located in Pyeongtaek some 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of Seoul to focus on the business operations for business-to-business (B2B) smart factory solutions.
The tech giant's smart factory solutions include self-developed automated manufacturing solutions, as well as artificial intelligence-based manufacturing management solutions and digital twin solutions. The digital twin technology allows users to demonstrate equipment or facilities in a virtual world.
Through the new business team, LG will provide smart factory solutions designed to maximize the production capability of customers and provide continuous consulting services for easy management.
"Based on the smart factory solutions developed by LG Electronics, we aim to provide optimal solutions at every stage of the smart factory process, from factory planning to design, construction, and operation," LG Electronics smart factory business team manager Song Si-yong said, adding: "We hope to become a partner who accompanies customers throughout their manufacturing journey."
