SEOUL -- Girl band BLACKPINK will showcase a special concert on Horizon Worlds, a virtual reality platform created by Meta formerly known as Facebook. The four-member band will perform various hit songs such as "Pink Venom" and "How You Like That" through the virtual concert available in seven countries including the United States, Canada, and France.

The concert is the virtual reality version of BLACKPINK's encore concert held in Seoul in September. The September concert, held at Seoul's iconic domed facility "Gocheok Sky Dome," was an extension of the group's world tour that started in October 2022. The band attracted about 1.8 million fans in 34 cities during its world tour "Born Pink."

The virtual concert titled "BLACKPINK: A VR Encore" will begin at 10 a.m. (0100 GMT) on December 27. YG Entertainment said the 70-minute-long virtual concert was filmed from the front row of Gocheok Sky Dome. The virtual performances can also be accessed in Iceland, Ireland, and Spain and viewers can replay the concert for about a month.

While BTS is acknowledged as the leading K-pop boy band, the girl group led the K-pop fandom as an iconic girl band. BLACKPINK became the first K-pop band to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2019. In November this year, the girl group received a prestigious British order from King Charles III for its contributions to raising awareness about global climate change. The iconic band was the ambassador for the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference, a global summit chaired by Britain to address environmental challenges.
