According to Busan, the event is the largest Hallyu (Korean cultural wave) festival in Asia. In 2019, before the first wave of the COVID-19 epidemic hit South Korea, the Busan One Asia Festival (BOF) attracted a total of 152,213 fans, including 40,943 foreigners. Since 2020, the event has been held online because of the pandemic.
Busan said the Hallyu festival will be held offline for the first time in four years on October 21 and 22. The K-pop concert will be presented at the 53,769-seat Busan Asiad Main Stadium on the first day of the event. The audience can enjoy performances by a total of 10 teams -- NCT 127, Oh My Girl, Lee Chae-yeon, The Wind, BAE173, XODIAC, CLASS:y, ZeroBaseOne, Treasure, and Highlight.
During the event, participants can also explore South Korean artworks, K-beauty content, and Korean food. Without disclosing details, Busan City said such events will be provided in a bid to support Busan's bid for the World Expo 2030. On the second day of the festival, the second concert will be held at Pier 1 of Busan Port.
South Korea is striving to host the World Expo 2030 in Busan. The global economic event, which is held every five years for six months, can play a key role in promoting the nation's artificial intelligence, big data, and information communication technologies to the global market.
