Samsung currently operates 360 stores called "Samsung Digital Plaza" across South Korea. Each store plays the role of a showroom for electric devices while some stores also have a customer service center where Samsung customers can visit to repair their smartphones and other products.
Samsung said that it will open "Samsung Gangnam" targeting young consumers in their 20s and 30s by offering differentiated shopping experiences. The store, defined by Samsung as a "playground" for customers, will provide an on and offline-integrated shopping experience solution called "In Store Mode." The solution will allow customers to use their smartphones to navigate the flagship store and participate in various events in real time.
On the third floor of the store, customers can select a virtual space that is similar to their homes and arrange Samsung home appliances. A special classroom will be operated so that customers can learn how to use their products through simple lessons and collaborative projects with other customers.
"It is Samsung Gangnam's goal to create a playground that targets the MZ generation," Jung Ho-jin, Samsung's Mobile Experience (MX) Division Vice President, said in a statement on June 28. Jung said the flagship store also welcomes anyone with a young mindset.
