NewJeans' dance song OMG selected as seventh best song by Rolling Stone

SEOUL -- OMG, a dance song by K-pop girl band NewJeans, was ranked seventh among 74 songs of the first half of 2023 by American magazine Rolling Stone. The song featuring electronic dance music and exciting dance rhythms was selected in the monthly magazine's list called "The Best Songs of 2023 So Far."

"A throwback to the most blissful moments of Nineties R&B that has a 21st-century appeal, 'OMG' is a pristine pop song with a glowing — and glowed-up — heart at its core," Rolling Stone said on June 16. The title song of NewJeans' first single album has earlier ranked 74th on Billboard's Hot 100, a weekly song chart that ranks top 100 popular songs. As of June 16, the music video for OMG gained more than 24 million views on YouTube.

NewJeans is known for its unique dance performances and outstanding singing skills in various genres such as R&B, electropop, and hip hop. Group members are aged between 15 and 19. The 18-year-old member named Hanni is an Australian of Vietnamese descent. Danielle, an 18-year-old member with dual nationality -- South Korean and Australian -- was born to an Australian father and a South Korean mother.
