Government data showed that more than 240,000 South Koreans received medical services because of hair loss and female patients accounted for about 44.2 percent. According to the Korea University Anam Hospital, women with excessive male hormones such as androgen and testosterone can experience the disorder. Other reasons include anemia and thyroid disorders. Such disorders can be normally detected through blood tests.
Amorepacific’s symposium titled "Hair Loss in Female and Cosmetic Modalities" took place at a hotel in southern Seoul. Without disclosing specific information, the cosmetics products maker said the company presented the development process for its anti-hair loss shampoo product at the event.
"We will continue to try hard to showcase the best product based on our know-how in hair research and technology that have been carried out for a long time," Amorepacific R&D Center head Park Young-ho said in a statement on May 30. The cosmetics product maker said the annual event was attended by international scholars including Maksim Plikus, a cell biologist at the University of California, Irvine.
