Patients with visual field loss are unable to see some areas of their visual space even when their eyes are focused on the central point. According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, the impairment can take place by damage to the brain.
The device, developed by South Korea's digital therapeutics solution developer Nunaps, was confirmed to be effective, the drug safety ministry said. The ministry said the product treats visual field defects through repetitive visual stimulation training.
So far, the ministry has designated 33 products as innovative medical devices including VIVID Brain. "We will continue to try hard to quickly provide safe and new treatment technologies for citizens by supporting outstanding techniques," the ministry said in a statement on May 22.
