According to the International Energy Agency, Africa has the world's largest solar energy resources of up to 60 percent but the generation capacity is only one percent of the total global generation capacity because of poor infrastructure.
HD Hyundai Energy Solutions said that the company signed a supply deal with MCA to provide solar power modules with a total capacity of about 22 megawatts, which is enough to provide electricity for 140,000 people. HD Hyundai will provide 500-watt-class high-performance modules to MCA by August 2023 and the Portuguese company will use the modules to build solar power plants in Bailundo and Kuito.
"We will continue to expand our presence in Africa's public and private solar power generation market by supplying high-capacity and high-quality products," an HD Hyundai Energy Solutions official said in a statement on May 22. The official added that the company will seek business opportunities in other markets in America, Europe, and new markets such as Angola and Uzbekistan.
