SEOUL -- The research center operated by South Korea's LG Group tied up with Parsons School of Design, an art and design college in New York City, to conduct joint research for the development of new design methodologies beyond visualizing the ideas of designers, based on a hyperscale artificial intelligence.

LG's AI research center unveiled "EXAONE" in December 2021. The lab also launched an alliance called "Expert AI Alliances" with Google and other companies to create an ecosystem for hyperscale AI that can mimic the ways humans think.

LG's AI research center and  Parsons forged a three-year collaboration partnership to jointly study EXAONE-based generative AI technologies and methodologies that can be used in the design and art fields. The research center would upgrade AI services that collaborate with professional designers and artists by utilizing joint research results.

LG's AI research center has developed EXAONE Atelier, a creative platform that allows designers to collaborate with AI and create creative designs. EXAONE learns how designers feel and think about experiencing various forms of information they face in their daily lives, such as photos, paintings, voices and videos.

"We want to create an AI design expert who helps maximize human creativity and productivity through collaboration with Parsons," LG's AI research head Bae Kyung-hoon said in a statement on September 13. Bae's team aims to develop EXAONE Atelier as a global platform that can work with designers and best understand and expresses their thoughts.
