Hyundai Steel, the steel-making unit of South Korea's Hyundai auto group, said it has developed alloy steel manufacturing technology for reduction gears. Hyundai Steel was in charge of designing and optimizing alloy components and manufacturing processes, while its parent company, Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors developed materials and produced prototypes.
New excellent technology (NET) certification is given to new domestically developed technologies for state support to promote their early commercialization.
The new alloy steel manufacturing technology improves thermal deformation, reducing noise generated when driving gears and improving the quietness of driving, Hyundai Steel said, adding that stability at high temperatures can increase the durability of reduction gears. Starting with Kia's high-performance EV6 GT, the application of the new ally steel will be expanded to other models.
