SEOUL -- Daewoong Pharmaceutical, a bioengineering company in South Korea, tied up with HD Junction, a domestic provider of healthcare information technology solutions, for their joint entry into Southeast Asian healthcare markets using a cloud-based electronic medical record (EMR) platform.

Daewoong will build a local business model using existing infrastructure, and HD Junction will provide cloud EMR technology to support business expansion. "HD Junction and Daewoong Pharmaceutical will pioneer the Southeast Asian digital healthcare market together through the EMR platform," Daewoong CEO Jeong Seung-ho said in a statement on May 17.

EMRs are digital versions of the paper charts in clinician offices, clinics, and hospitals. EMRs operated on a cloud basis enables the easy management of data and it is possible to automatically store and update data in real-time.

HD Junction has released its cloud EMR platform called "Truedac" "In the future, we will collaborate with Daewoong Pharmaceutical to build a variety of digital healthcare business models based on cloud EMR," said HD Junction CEO Jang Dong-jin.

An integrated EMR solution allows healthcare professionals to simultaneously access and update patient information. Vital signs are automatically uploaded, triggering early warning alerts if a patient's condition deteriorates. An EMR stem has to be set up before establishing an AI and big data-based robot doctor system.
