SEOUL -- W Concept, a popular online fashion shopping mall wing of South Korea's retail giant Shinsegae Group, has opened its first official offline shop at a Shinsegae Department Store in Yongin south of Seoul. The company had tested its offline sales capability through a temporary pilot project shop in Seoul in late 2021.

W Concept was launched in South Korea in 2006 as a curated fashion brand that had collaborated with popular designers at home and abroad. The company walked a successful path by attracting young female consumers with a variety of personalized product suggestions from popular brands. W Concept was acquired by Shinsegae Group in early 2021.

To test its offline sales capability, W Concept opened a pop-up store at a Shinsegae Department Store in Gangnam, Seoul's heat of fashion trends, for two weeks in late October 2021. The fashion store platform said that it achieved a meaningful result during the two-week operation of the project store.

W Concept said that it opened its first offline store in Yongin. The Shinsegae Department Store in Yongin is easily accessible by neighboring cities where the population of young working people is high. "We plan to utilize Shinsegae's iconic image to introduce new brands and attract more customers," the online shopping mall operator said.

Through the Yongin store, W Concept will showcase unique apparel from 20 carefully selected fashion brands. "We hope our offline store to increase customers' accessibility and shopping efficiency while paving a new road for online fashion brands," a W Concept official said in a statement on March 17.
