SEOUL -- SK On, the battery-making subsidiary of SK Innovation, has partnered with Soft Berry, a domestic eco-friendly vehicle technology company, to demonstrate a battery diagnosis service for electric vehicle charging information app users. The service will use artificial intelligence to check the status of batteries in real-time.

The management of electric vehicle batteries has become one of the most important chores which an EV driver has to carry out to keep his or her eco-friendly car in top condition. If batteries are poorly managed, they could combust to cause a fire that is really hard to put out.

SK On said in a statement on November 26 that the company and Soft Berry started the demonstration of EV battery diagnosis service through "EV Infra," an EV charging status information app, operated by the EV technology company. The app will analyze battery operation data using battery as a service (BaaS) artificial intelligence (AI) to offer various information including an EV's battery status and abnormal activity log.

They selected 20 testers before the official launch of EV Infra that can be used by drivers to check the estimated life span of batteries. The app can also provide drivers with suggestions of various driving styles which could improve the performance of their cars.

"We will provide personalized battery diagnosis service by utilizing data accumulated through the research and production of batteries and our capabilities. We will also cooperate with foreign partners to contribute to the development of the global BaaS industry," SK On official Sohn Hyuk was quoted as saying.
