SEOUL -- Telecom equipment at mobile communication base stations must withstand rapid changes in temperature, and electronic components need to secure high reliability and durability. Samwha Electric, an electrolytic capacitor producer in South Korea, has developed a hybrid capacitor that can be used at 80 degrees Celsius for more than 10 years.
A capacitor stores electric charge in an electric field. It is a passive electronic component designed to add capacitance to a circuit. The physical form and construction of practical capacitors vary widely and many types of capacitors are widely used as parts of electrical circuits in many common electrical devices.
Samwha Electric's hybrid capacitor for telecom equipment is a conductive polymer hybrid capacitor that is optimized for communication equipment with minor changes in characteristics in high and low temperatures. it can be used at minus 55 degrees Celsius to 150 degrees.
To compensate for the shortcomings of conventional solid capacitors, Samwha Electric used solid and liquid electrolytes at the same time to overcome voltage limitation and solve the disadvantage of fires caused by a faulty short. Not only is it suitable for electric vehicles, but it can be used for special industrial equipment that requires high reliability.
