SEOUL -- Samsung Electronics and its independent subsidiary Harman International, a connected car parts maker based in Connecticut, have showcased a next-generation infotainment system for connected cars in an online event.

Samsung said Digital Cockpit is capable of transforming a vehicle into a versatile and convenient all-purpose space by changing the position of the infotainment system's floating main monitor. The screen is partially hidden beneath the dashboard while driving. It can be lifted to the eye level of the driver. Samsung said Digital Cockpit can turn a car into a mobile office thanks to its large display and 5G connectivity.

The floating display will provide information about the car's surroundings and show traffic signals, road signs and weather information. The steering wheel has an 8.8-inch display. Samsung said the steering wheel display is an example of the next-generation infotainment system that is different from the traditional driver's seat.
Digital Cockpit features a healthcare app that was provided through a dedicated smartphone app to regularly monitor the health of passengers such as their stress levels. If a passenger is under too much stress, the car will adjust its lighting, scent, or music.
