AI-based closed-circuit TVs can analyze the movement of people to see what they are doing in real-time. They are widely used by surveillance companies and law enforcement services. Sometimes, an AI-based face recognition system can be added to keep track of people and prevent accidents in public places such as train stations and airports.
In a joint demonstration this year with the Ministry of Education at two public schools, the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) found that an AI deep learning-based CCTV image analytics solution system detected 91.5 percent of student movements related to school violence. It was able to detect abnormal behavior in less than 10 seconds.
AI-based smart CCTVs were put to a test service at a Seoul parking lot in November this year. The surveillance system monitored the movement of cars inside a public car park to locate empty spaces. Drivers were guided to parking spaces in real-time through a smartphone app or a computer. The smart CCTV also automatically charged parking fees by reading plate numbers.
