SEOUL -- South Korea's top beauty product maker AmorePacific has adopted 3D printing to instantly produce tailored skincare facial mask packs that will be available first in April at the company's flagship store in the center of Seoul frequented by foreign tourists.

AmorePacific's cosmetic brand, Iope, said in a statement on Monday that its staff would measure the shape of each customer's face using 3D technology and create mask packs with 3D printers.

The 3D-printed mask pack was showcased by Amore at the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas in January this year. Amore had cooperated with Lincsolution that provides comprehensive 3D printer solutions and sells 3D printer hardware to produce printers that is capable of printing sheet mask packs in about 5 minutes reflecting different facial sizes and types.

Iope's new 3D technology adaptation is in line with government policy. The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety issued a new system on March 14 to allow sellers that are licensed to produce and manage cosmetics customized to match different customers. Iope said it would offer serum products created on the site to match the skin of customers.

South Korean mask packs are popular in the global market that is projected to reach $448.6 million by 2025, according to global research company Adroit Market Research.
