[CES 2020] LG to showcase new washing machine and dryer for U.S. consumers at CES

SEOUL -- At an annual trade show at Las Vegas, LG Electronics will showcase WiFi-connected and artificial intelligence-based premium home appliances including a washing machine and a dryer, which are optimized for American consumers, underscoring efforts to solidify its position in the U.S. home appliance market.

LG said in a statement on Monday that it would unveil its TWINWash washer, a large-capacity front-loading washing machine equipped with a low-noise direct drive motor and a convenient pedestal washer, at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Other devices include a dryer fitted with a dual inverter heat pump that enables consumers to dry different loads of washed clothes simultaneously at different temperatures.

Consumers are allowed to control the appliances using voice commands through Google's Assistant or Amazon's Alexa smartphone apps. LG said the TWINWash washing machine has an ultra-large capacity that makes it perfect for big families and those who regularly clean thick blankets.

LG also has a treat for gardening lovers. A premium built-in type indoor gardening appliance will help consumers to grow herbs and vegetables at their kitchen.

The company said the gardening appliance equipped with a smart light, temperature and water control system is ideal for urban dwellers who are interested in pursuing a healthier and greener lifestyle. Consumers can grow vegetables using ready-made seed packages. It can house up to 24 packages which are enough for a family of four to enjoy healthier eating all year round.

Targeting U.S. consumers who prefer more accurate and clear sounds, another surprise will be shown at CES such as a new premium soundbar installed with an externally-connected set of high-fidelity (hi-fi) speakers that delivers rich and true-to-life sounds.

The soundbar features the audio technology of Meridian Audio, a British high-performance audio maker, to provide automatically tailored sounds that match the characteristics of the room. It self-calibrates to provide the best sound possible.
