SEOUL -- Fan communities are buzzing with excitement after teenage K-pop girl band ITZY pre-released the music video for its comeback song "ICY", four months after the super rookie made its grand debut.
The five-member band's new song is the title track of "IT'Z ICY", a summer-themed mini-album scheduled for release at 6:00 p.m. Monday (0900 GMT). ITZY pre-released the music video at midnight Sunday, 18 hours before its official release.
The video caused an explosive response from fans, garnering more than 5.1 million views in less than 11 hours of its release. Some 65,700 fans eagerly engaged in discussions to talk about how great the song is.
"Icy but I’m on fire” is my favourite part. Great song," Said "Jendeukie&pasta LalisaChichu", a YouTube user. Another user "lifeisabreeze" said: "The choreography is fire, cant wait for the live performance."
"ICY" is the first track composed and written by Park Jin-young, also known as JYP who heads South Korea's entertainment powerhouse JYP Entertainment. Top South Korean girl bands including ITZY and TWICE are nested in JYP.
ITZY members who excel in dancing debuted in February with "DALLA DALLA". The band has earned the title of "super rookie" by breaking the record for the fastest K-pop band to reach 100 million views on YouTube with its debut song.
