SEOUL -- Police sought an arrest warrant for Park Yoo-chun, an actor and JYJ member, over allegations that he took drugs together with a granddaughter of the late businessman who founded a major dairy producer in South Korea
The drug investigation team in the southern city of Suwon said Tuesday that it asked prosecutors to obtain a court-issued warrant for Park, known as his stage name Yoochun, based on CCTV images and a series of interrogations that began after Hwang Ha-na, 31, was arrested on April 4 for taking methamphetamine commonly known as ice.
Hwang, a granddaughter of Hong Doo-young, the late founder of Namyang Dairy Products, has told investigators that she took ice with Yoochun at her home this year. The two promised to marry in 2017 but separated the following year.
Yoochun refuted Hwang's claims and tested negative in a preliminary drug test, but police found through security camera footages that Yoochun allegedly visited Hwang's home earlier this year, deposited money into an account belonging to a drug dealer through an automated teller machine, and retrieved a suspected drug at a certain place later.
Yoochun, 32, has led a quiet life since he was accused of buying sex from a woman in 2016.
