SEOUL -- Girl band BLACK PINK became the highest-charting K-pop female group after its latest song "DDU-Du DDU-DU" rose to the 55th place on the Billboard Hot 100.
The prominent American music magazine said that BLACK PINK became the highest-charting K-pop girl band in its popular 100 song chart dated June 30 and also entered Billboard's 200 with its latest album "EP SQUARE UP" at No. 40.
Previously, Wonder Girls was the highest-ranking K-pop girl band in the Billboard Hot 100. The band had its hit song "Nobody" standing in the 76th spot in 2009. In May this year, K-pop boy band BTS entered the top 10 on the chart with "FAKE LOVE".
Currently, the most successful K-pop artist on Billboard charts is Rapper Psy. His global hit "Gangnam Style" peaked at No.2 in Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks in 2012.
