SEOUL -- The third season of "PRODUCE", a popular cable TV music audition show which created K-pop project groups such as I.O.I and Wanna One, will be aired in June with 96 female participants from South Korea and Japan.

Mnet, a cable music channel, said in a statement that PRODUCE's third season is being filmed. Trainers in the four-month audition process included artists such as ex-SISTAR member Soyou and FT ISLAND's Lee Hong-gi.

PRODUCE's first season was aired in 2016 to select 11 survivors for the project girl group I.O.I. The second season saw the creation of Wanna One, an 11 member project boy group.
