Christopher Elwell, a 29-year-old New Hampshire man, was sentenced to seven and a half years to 15 years in prison Thursday for sexually assaulting a four-year-old girl. He did not foresee what was to come right after his sentencing though.
27-year-old Josiah Davies, a fellow prisoner waiting for sentencing, attacked Elwell when he sat down next to him. Davies who was handcuffed and shackled headbutted the pedophile a couple times with his own heads until the Strafford County Deputy Sheriff restrained him.
WMUR-TV, a local TV station, was recording the court hearing when the incident took place. Elwell did not seem injured from the attack and seemed unfazed in the footage released by the TV station.
It is unknown at this time what set Davies off to attack Elwell because they did not know each other before the altercation.
Elwell was convicted of assaulting a four-year-old girl on June 24 and 25 this year during a sleepover. He also was found guilty of failing to register as a sex offender after prior charges in 2008. He molested a 14-year-old girl when he was 20 years old.
Josiah Davies was in court for probation violation. He was found passing fake checks totaling of $9,000. Davies will be facing about three years and a half to seven years in prison.
The attack is under investigation by The Strafford County Sheriff's Office.
Elwell will not be able to have any unsupervised contact with minors after he is released from prison.
