Samsung's AI capacity just got stronger after it acquired Fluenty, a promising domestic AI chatbot startup incubated by the world's top smartphone maker which introduced "Bixby", an AI assistant, after acquiring an American tech company.
The two companies signed an acquisition deal on Tuesday. Samsung said it would absorb manpower, technology and properties from Fluenty, known for its AI chat-answering service, which was invited to "Creative Square", a startup incubation program, in September last year.
Fluenty's service uses AI to provide various answer options in chatting on messenger apps. Over a question like "What shall we do tonight?", it will give answers: "How about dinner?" or "Would you like to watch a movie?"
In an effort to boost its competitiveness in the fast-growing AI industry, Samsung American AI company Viv in October last year and introduced "Bixby" this year.
