The deadliest fire in the history of California decimated countless homes and businesses including the home of Snoopy creator, Charles Schulz.
The split-level house was built in the 1970s. Schulz lived in the house with his wife Jean Schulz until his death in 2000. All of their memories together burned down to the ground.
His 78-year-old widow was able to evacuate safely to a daughter's house. One of his sons, Craig Schulz, also lost his Santa Rosa home in the fire.
Fortunately for the Peanuts fans, the most of the significant works of Schulz were moved to the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa. The museum survived the fire unscathed.
Schulz's widow is the president of the museum and research center that opened in 2002 after his death.
