Solidad Analyssa Marie Torres, an 18-year-old woman from Lubbock, Texas went through a horrible ordeal that she never fathomed to go through. She became a victim of a domestic violence on June 17 this year.
Torres was in a relationship with Dameon Marmolejo, a 20-year-old man living in the same neighborhood. The recent high school graduate was in love with Marmolejo who she met through Snapchat. She deleted the app after starting a relationship with him, however, Marmolejo accused her many time of cheating on him throughout the relationship.
On June 17, 2017, when Marmolejo visited Torres at her residence while her family was away, he found out Torres downloaded Snapchat again when her cell phone flashed to show new messaged sent through Snapchat. He snapped and slapped her across her face. He quickly escalated and started punching and kicking her. Torres managed to break free from his grip and ran into the bathroom but did not manage to lock the door. He chased after her and continued to beat her up. Then he grabbed her hair and banged her head against the bathtub a few times. Torres briefly lost her consciousness but woke up to Marmolejo making a 911 call. He then threw the phone at her before leaving.
Lubbock Police Department had an outstanding warrant to hung Dameon Marmolejo down since June. For two months, the perpetrator had been in hiding with his family's help in the area.
Torres did not feel safe, knowing that Marmolejo was out somewhere in the area she lives in. However, she put a brave face on with the help of her family through the recovery. Torres had been also working hard to bring awareness to domestic violence and the victims by sharing her stories.
After exactly two months, the United States Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force Team Foxtrot located Marmolejo and arrested him at his residence around 10:45 a.m. on August 17, according to Lubbock PD. He is locked behind the bars in the Lubbock County Detention Center for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Torres expressed her relief on her Facebook page and thanked "the people that put so much work into this and didn't give up. & for those who said something."
