The world's first flexible, transparent 77-inch OLED display with Ultra High Definition (UHD) resolution was unveiled in South Korea for commercial use in construction, auto and other areas.
The display produced under a state-sponsored joint project involving LG Display underlines South Korea's determination to maintain its status as the global leader in flat panels in the face of a strong challenge from Chinese and other rivals.
The project cost 126.2 billion won (110.5 million US dollars) for 59 months from August 2012. It was originally aimed at developing a transparent flexible display larger than 60 inches with UHD resolution.
The 77-inch display has 40 percent transmittance. Software partnered also developed user interfaces for signage, smart desks, displays for cars, augmented reality applications and more.
