DNA testing showed that another set of bones found in the wreckage of Sewol ferry that sank three years ago with the loss of 304 people were identified by forensic experts to be of a missing female student.
Officials said that the remains found in the wreckage two weeks ago belonged to Cho Eun-hwa, a student from Danwon High School in Ansan. She was among nine people listed as missing.
Of four sets of the remains retrieved so far, three have been identified. Bone fragments found last week were confirmed to be of Heo Da-youn, a Danwon student, and Ko Chang-seok, a Danwon teacher.
The overloaded Sewol ferry was carrying 476 people including 325 Danwon High School students when it sank three years ago. Only 75 students have survived the disaster. The wreckage of Sewol was lifted off the seabed in March and was moved to a dry dock in the southern port of Mokpo.
