San Francisco, USA - Princeton Seafood Co. is a restaurant to check out when you ever travel to San Francisco, California. It is actually located in Half Moon Bay, a coastal city that is located 25 miles south of San Francisco. It has a mild Mediterranean-like climate all year round and boasts the stunning view of the Pacific Ocean.
For 38 years, the restaurant has been founded and operated by the Mary and Marty Botham family which started as a fishing wholesale business. The recipe for its award-winning clam chowder was created by Marty's mom. Princeton serves down-to-earth California seafood cuisine with fresh fish sourced by local fisherman in Half Moon Bay.
The atmosphere is not pretentious but cozy and welcoming.
The popular appetizers at the restaurant are calamari and the award-winning clam chowder in a bread bowl. The calamari was fried crispy on the outside and tender inside. The clam chowder was rich in flavor, and the soaked bread inside of the bread bowl was amazing.
Cioppino is a seafood stew originated in San Francisco. It was influenced by Italian-American cuisine with ingredients from the Pacific Ocean: Dungeness crab, clam, shrimp, scallop, and mussel. This dish was served with house-baked sourdough. The sourdough was soft and chewy inside and had a perfect crust on the outside.
The crab season is technically not over yet according to California Department of Fish and Wildlife. The season began on November 5, 2016, and will end on June 30, 2017. The whole crab required some time to deshell and eat but every bite dipped in the melted garlic butter was worth the effort.
After the satisfying meal, you can go to Princeton's market to purchase fresh fish and check out Half Moon Bay's scenic beaches and cute downtown.
