LPGA star Lydia Ko, a Korean-born New Zealand golfer, has veered off the tee to a golf wear industry at her motherland, revealing her interest in fashion design.

Without hitting a golf shot, she has been busy in South Korea with business talks on setting up a new golf wear line called "MCKAYSON LK". She also signed a three-year sponsorship deal with MCS Sports Authority, a local apparel and fashion company but terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The world's No. 1 female golfer hopes to reflect her thoughts and know-hows in the golf wear line for MCKAYSON, a new sportswear brand launched by MCS Sports which sponsors the first LPGA event in New Zealand this year.  "I like simple but pretty clothes, but I have lots of stories with the design team."

Ko has already signed with Parsons Xtreme Golf, a high-end golf club manufacturing company, joining Brittany Lang, Christina Kim and Ryan O’Toole as new members of the troop.

She admitted that there would be an adjustment period. That's why she will skip the season-opening event in the Bahamas and begin her 2017 season mid-February in Australia.

"There have been a lot of changes, including clothes, since late last year, and the goal is to adapt quickly to them," Ko said.

"The goal is to increase the accuracy of my driver. It's important to place the second shot on the fairway because the green is getting fast. Without changing the basic framework of my swing, I'm going to make the current swing more stable," she added.
