A stampede by thousands of people has been spotted near the Beitou Park in Taiwan, resembling a chaotic scene from a disaster film. According to YouTuber Tingyi Wang (亭懿 王), the scene was caused by a horde of Pokémon Go players trying to catch a rare Pokémon.

Mobile augmented reality (AR) game Pokémon Go has overwhelmed the world with its phenomenal popularity. Players have roamed about places in the real world to catch Pokémons. They do not have a craze for common monsters but when a rare or popular Pokémon pops up, things get serious.

Apparently, the players who have joined the stampede in Taiwan were trying to catch Snorlax, a popular Pokémon, which has a strong fan-base of its own. In the video, both car and pedestrian traffic came to a halt, and some seemed to have joined the stampede without knowing what it really is about.
