A riverside K-pop concert, coupled with beer and South Korea's popular ginseng chicken soup Samgyetang, will greet thousands of Chinese tourists during their trip to Seoul in May, officials said Wednesday.

Two rounds of the concert involving K-pop artists such as Gummy, K.Will and Lyn will be held on May 6 and 10 each in a park along the bank of the Han river which flows through Seoul.

Gummy, K.Will, and Lyn are gaining popularity from Chinese fans for their OSTs (original soundtracks) from South Korea's runaway hit drama "Descendants of the Sun" which aired the final episode on April 14.

The drama created a sensation in Asia since it premiered on February 24 simultaneously in South Korea and China, reigniting South Korea's pop culture fever "Hallyu".

Each concert will be attended by some 4,000 workers from China's JM (Joymain) group handling health supplement who are coming on a five-day reward vacation, Seoul city officials said.

JM will dispatch a total of 8,000 workers in two groups under a special tour program which includes city tours, concerts and Samgyetang parties proposed by agriculture officials and poultry firms.

Samgyetang will be available in China in the first half of this year after Beijing approved the registration of 11 Korean food processors and slaughterhouses this month.

Samgyetang, which uses a young chicken filled with garlic, rice, scallion and spices, ginseng and jujube, has been consumed as a healthy food on hot summer days. It has gained popularity abroad mainly through Chinese and Japanese tourists.
