‘Garak Market’, a wholesale market which features a huge complex of the agricultural product market and fishery, will open ‘Garak Mall’, a 210,958m2 wide food market which is the largest in the world.

Garak Market had been popular among citizens of Seoul for decades by providing them with cheap, but good quality products. The market houses the biggest fishery in Seoul and it’s also very famous for great seafood restaurants.

But there were inconveniences. The parking lot was small and always full of cars, floors of the market facilities were wet and smelly due to being old. Stores varied in sizes and cramped up together.

Seoul Agro-Fisheries & Food Corporation will open Garak Mall in December as a part of “Garak Modernization Program” which aims to apply the latest technology into distributing and sales of Garak Market. Also, by opening new facilities, shop owners of the marketplace can move into new buildings instead of old complexes.

The mall is to house 1,106 stores over two stories of the building, and food courts will be placed throughout the facilities according to its theme and merchandises. Plus, Garak Mall has a giant sized parking lot which can have 2,078 cars parked simultaneously.
