Ex-national footballer Song Jong-guk divorces wife of nine years

Song Jong-guk, a player of the South Korean national football team which advanced to the semi-finals of the 2002 FIFA World Cup, and his wife of nine years have agreed to divorce, according to local media reports Tuesday.

Song and his wife, actress Park Ip-sun, reached the agreement after the Chuseok holiday in late September, and submitted divorce documents to the court, Song's management agency, GSEN, in Seoul, was quoted as saying by the Yonhap news agency.

The agency dismissed reports that they filed for a divorce, Yonhap said.

They broke up because of "personality difference," GSEN said, without elaborating.
