A young person holds a signboard calling for raising South Korea's mandated minimum wage to 10,000 won per hour in front of the Bosingak Bell Pavilion in Jongno-gu, central Seoul, Monday. After the resumption of negotiations to set next year's minimum wage late last week, the labor unions, changing their earlier demand, asked for a 8,400 won minimum hourly wage, up 50.5 percent from the current 5,580 won. Employers proposed the minimum wage be increased by merely 30 won or 0.5 percent to 5,610 won.
