Amid sunny weather with temperatures up to 27 degrees, Manark won the 2,000-meter-long dirt track with distinct ahead of his 14 rivals. Manark, ridden by jockey Dane O' Neill finished the track at a winning time of 2:16:30 minutes and snatched US$600,000 in prize money. "It is a fantastic result and I am honored to be part of the team of Dubai crown prince Sheikh Hamdan," said jockey O' Neill after the race.
French horse Valiant Boy, owned by Sheikh Tahnoon Al-Nahyan, from Abu Dhabi, and Raaziq, also from France were second and third, respectively, cashing in $200,000 and $100,000.
A total prize money of one million dollars was distributed for the race for horses of five years and older. The event was sponsored by the Abu Dhabi sovereign wealth fund International Petroleum Investment Co.
