Japan logged a current account surplus of 963 billion yen in September, extending its run for the third consecutive month, the country's finance ministry said Tuesday. The figure represents a 61.9 percent rise from the same month of last year and was far higher than the earlier estimate of 536.1 billion yen. Analysts said the surplus widened as a weaker yen helped boost repatriated returns on foreign investment. The surplus in August stood at 287.1 billion yen.
