The torch relay for the 17th Asian Games arrived in the host city of Incheon, South Korea, on Wednesday, two days before the opening ceremony of the Games, after a long journey.

The relay began on Aug. 9 in India where the first Asian Games was held in 1951. The flame, which was lit in New Delhi, was flown to Yantai in east China’s Shandong Province, before being reunited with another one ignited on top of Mt. Mani on South Korea’s Ganghwa Island on Aug. 13.

About 4,000 torchbearers carried the unified torch 5,700 kilometers across the host country, including Baengnyeong Island in the West Sea near the Northern Limit Line (NLL), Ulleung Island in the East Sea and the southern province island of Jeju, organizers said.

The torch, dubbed "the Flame of the Future," will be lit during the Games which will continue through Oct. 4.
