Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit South Korea on July 3-4 for summit talks with President Park Geun-hye, the presidential office announced on Friday.

In the summit talks scheduled for July 3, the two leaders are expected to discuss ways of ending North Korea's nuclear weapons program and further boosting relations between Seoul and Beijing, sources said.

Park will hold a state dinner for Xi later in the day, the announcement said.

It would be the first trip to South Korea by the Chinese leader since his inauguration in March last year.

The visit is to reciprocate Park’s trip to China in June last year.

Xi first visited North Korea in 2008 when he served as vice president.
